Since June 1, 2017, all chemical products that are in the trade must be compliant with the EU CLP Regulation, which contains rules for the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures.
Between the months of September until December, 150 municipalities will send out inspectors to check whether the legislation is being obeyed within the marketplace. The inspections will follow the national cooperation project that was organized by the Swedish Chemicals Agency.
The inspectors will check that stores only sell chemical products that are:
– Child-resistant and with a warning label when required;
– Labelled following the current CLP Regulation; and
– Labelled in Swedish.
Companies must now follow the new CLP Regulation, chemicals which are labelled under the old rules must no longer be sold.
