Cosmetics Europe, the trade association representing the European cosmetics and personal care industry, welcomed the application of the European Cosmetics Regulation. The Regulation, which came into force in early 2010 alongside the existing Directive, becomes as of 11th July 2013 the sole legislative tool for the European Cosmetics Industry.
Bertil Heerink, Director-General of Cosmetics Europe, said; “The introduction of a European Regulation for Cosmetics is a decisive step towards creating a strong single level playing field. For the first time, the world?s largest personal care market of more than 500 million consumers will be served by a single, harmonized piece of legislation, directly applicable in all the Member States of the European Union.
