There have been some delays in the implementation of Canada’s Workplace Materials Information System 2015.
WHMIS 2015, set out by the Government of Canada published the Hazardous Products Regulation (HPR), is an amendment to WHMIS 1988 that incorporates the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and labelling of Chemicals, simply known as GHS. However, there have been recent delays to the implementation.
Both Manufacturers and Importers now have until June 1, 2018 to comply with WHMIS 2015, which is exactly one year later than intended. The second deadline has also been delayed three months to September 1, 2018.
The deadline that was set for Occupational safety and health in the workplace remains December 1, 2018.
