Further extension of the deadline for UKCA marking
Update: Further extension of the deadline for UKCA marking
In January 2021, the United Kingdom Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking came into effect to begin replacing the European Union’s CE marking on products sold in Great Britain, with the exception of Northern Ireland which continues to use CE markings.
Originally, the UKCA marking was supposed to replace all CE markings by January 1, 2022, but the deadline was extended to January 1, 2023 to ease the burden on businesses that may have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. On November 14th, 2022, the UK government announced that businesses will have an additional two years to transition to UKCA markings and that the CE marking will be recognized until December 31, 2024. Additionally, UKCA markings and importer information may be affixed on an accompanying document/label until December 31, 2027 for products from EEA countries in order to reduce labelling costs.
