Chemicals output in Europe dropped in May 2014 after eight consecutive months of growth, according to the latest data from the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic).

 

According to, the ‘Cefic Chemicals Trends Report’, chemical output increased by 1.8% between January and May 2014 on a year-on-year basis.

 

Petrochemicals output dropped by 4.5%, partially offset by a 4.6% rise in specialty chemicals output and 2.3% growth in polymers.

 

Basic inorganics output increased by 2% year-on-year, while consumer chemicals output increased by 1.6% during the same period.
