Cepa Releases Survey on Substances

The government of Canada has published information in response to the mandatory surveys under section 71 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (Cepa) for seven groups of substances.

These substance groups are:

-methylenediphenyl diisocyanate and diamine (MDI/MDA);

-several substituted diphenylamine substances;

-a group of phthalates;

-aromatic azo and benzidine- based subtances;

-certain organic flame retardants;

-select selenium-containing substances; and

– cobalt-containing substances.

The information provided by Cepa aims to target the substances of interest under Canada’s Chemicals Management Plan. To help increase the transparency and allow easier access to information on the substances in commerce in Canada, these documents will provide non-confidential information that is collected by the Canadian government. The documents do not and will not include an assessment of the risks the substances may pose.
