Oct. 29 EU: Consultation on a proposal revising methanol’s harmonised classification and labelling now open
This press release is brought to you by the ECHA.
ECHA invites interested parties to comment on a new proposal for harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) on methanol. The public consultation will be open for 45 days and will end on 13 December 2013.
Italy is proposing to add reproductive toxicity to the existing harmonised classification of methanol. Their proposal is based on the scientific evidence suggesting that methanol has adverse effects on the development of the unborn child. Adoption of the proposal could result in restrictions to the use of methanol in some consumer products.
The CLH report and the dedicated webform to post the comments are available on the ECHA website. The comments received during the public consultation will be regularly published on the ECHA website during the 45-day consultation phase. At the end of the public consultation, ECHA will publish all comments and non-confidential attachments received.
