Portuguese Cosmetic Regulations
Portuguese authorities have issued a decree with plans to implement the European Union’s Cosmetics Regulation.
The decree that has been issued states that there are numerous risks to human health and with the increase in cosmetic use in the teenage market, it encouraged Portugal to draw upon the 2009 European Commissions Cosmetic Regulations.
Apart form implementing the specific rules from the cosmetics regulation, the Portuguese authorities intend to go further with the decree. The decree will make it compulsory for all health professionals and any professional that uses cosmetics to communicate to the consumer the serious undesirable effects to the competent authority, and would regulate the activity of players in the commercial and distribution chain.
The decree bill comprises of 26 articles, that include regulations for import activity and the language on product labelling.
